Australia Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Award 2020 (MA000025) 30.1: 30.1 Apply employee notice periods and deduct an amount capped at one week's wages for short notice

Notice from the employer is governed by the NES (ss 117 and 123). An employee (other than those excluded by s 123(1) and (3)) must give notice that depends on continuous service at the end of the day notice is given: 1 week for up to 1 year; 2 weeks for over 1 and up to 3 years; 3 weeks for over 3 and up to 5 years; 4 weeks for over 5 years. If an employee aged 18 or over gives less than required, the employer may deduct from award wages owing an amount capped at one week's wages, but not if it agreed to shorter notice, and any deduction must be reasonable in the circumstances.
