What does 6 require?

A ramp on an access path in premises and infrastructure must comply with clause 8 of AS 1428.2 (1992). Operators and providers must ensure that a fixed gangway connecting a pontoon wharf maintains a 1:14 gradient for at least 80% of the high and low tide levels, with the chart datum from which the gradient is measured calculated under clause 1.3.6 of AS 3962 (2020). The former boarding ramp sections 6.2 to 6.4 were repealed in 2026 and replaced by the boarding ramp requirements in Part 8. Section 6.5 applies to fixed gangways installed in existing infrastructure on or after 13 October 2026.
