Equipment in scope is to be put through a regular regime of inspection and testing aimed at finding damage, wear or any other condition that could make it unsafe. The inspection and tests must be done on the equipment as presented: it is never taken apart for the purpose, and no test may destroy it. Appendix A explains the background to the inspection and test regime.
