Switchboards controlling a set or its outgoing circuits must, beyond AS/NZS 3000, carry the instruments, relays and controls needed for safe and correct operation, with starting and shutdown devices, isolators, changeover devices and anything needing reading or adjustment accessible. Switchgear must be rated for the voltage, duty and continuous and short-time currents of its circuits, protective devices must safely interrupt the prospective short-circuit current, load-breaking switchgear must show its breaking and making ratings, and switches not rated to break full load must be interlocked against opening on load. Isolators must be securable open; where equipment above extra-low voltage may be worked on, isolation must be visible-break or clearly indicate open or closed.
