Hip roofs need no specific bracing; gable roofs (including cathedral) within the width and pitch limits up to N2 are braced with opposing timber braces from ridge to internal walls or diagonal braces from ridge to external plates, or designed diagonal metal bracing, spliced where braces cross; trussed roofs are braced to AS 4440.
