Wall bracing must resist at least the calculated racking force, summed from individual walls. Nominal bracing (lined walls nominally fixed) may take no more than 50 % of the force and only when evenly spread; structural bracing uses the capacities of the bracing table (sheet bracing continuous from top to bottom plate, generally at least 900 mm wide, capacity adjusted for wall height over 2700 mm and panel length). Bracing is placed first in external walls and corners, spread evenly both ways, with spacing limits (9000 mm up to N2); bracing walls under eaves are limited to 20 %; internal bracing walls are connected top and bottom with capacity equal to their rating, and bottom plates are fixed at panel ends. The 2021 revision restated Table 8.18 at JD5 capacities and Amendment 1 changed 8.3.6.5 and Table 8.18; values not asserted.
