Part 2: Members in business – APES 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including Independence Standards)

APES 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including Independence Standards) 250: Inducements, including gifts and hospitality (members in business)

What does 250 require?

A Member in Business must not offer or accept, or encourage others to offer or accept, any inducement made with intent to improperly influence behaviour, and must comply with applicable anti-bribery laws. Where no such intent exists the Member still applies the conceptual framework to inducements that are trivial, inconsequential or otherwise acceptable, and considers inducements offered to or by immediate or close family. Safeguards include declining the inducement, telling senior management or the governance body, and transparency registers.
