APES 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including Independence Standards) 240: Financial interests, compensation and incentives linked to reporting

What does 240 require?

A Member in Business whose own financial interests or remuneration could be affected by the outcome of financial or non-financial reporting or decision-making must neither manipulate information nor exploit confidential information for personal advantage. The Member identifies the self-interest threat created by bonus schemes, share options or profit-related pay, evaluates it, and applies safeguards such as disclosure of interests to those charged with governance, independent review of the reporting and documented remuneration policies.
