Aged Care Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) Provider Guidance
Notifying the Commissioner (Rules Division 2 of Part 2 of Chapter 5) – Aged Care Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) Provider Guidance

Aged Care Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS) Provider Guidance not-impact: Assess impact without relying on the person's ability to communicate

When deciding whether an incident caused injury or discomfort, the provider must not treat an impairment that affects the person's ability to recognise or communicate harm as preventing or lessening the harm, and must recognise that each person's experience is unique. The Commission expects a person-centred, culturally informed and trauma-informed assessment over time, watching for changed behaviour such as withdrawal or fear, and offers an Impact Assessment Tool.
