Aged Care Infection Prevention and Control Guide (2024)
Chapter 1: Governance, the IPC system and roles – Aged Care Infection Prevention and Control Guide (2024)

Aged Care Infection Prevention and Control Guide (2024) g-lead: Appoint an IPC lead and have management resource and oversee the system

The system is led by an IPC lead or team, but responsibility cannot rest with them alone. Management builds IPC into the annual business plan with money and people, makes sure everyone is trained, plans cover for the lead, supports the lead with regular discussion, upholds the Charter of Aged Care Rights in complex outbreaks and regularly reviews monitoring and audit data. Leads give on-the-ground guidance, training, practice gap identification, antimicrobial stewardship oversight, audits and updates.
