World Bank Group General EHS Guidelines 3.5: 3.5 Transport of hazardous materials

Projects that ship hazardous materials ensure packaging and containers fit the type, quantity and transport mode, vehicles meet specification, employees involved in transport are trained in shipping and emergency procedures, labelling and placarding are applied as required, and means exist to respond to transport emergencies, with major transportation hazards assessed and managed under an emergency preparedness plan including community involvement.
