Chemicals used to wash, peel, treat, store or process fruits and vegetables are approved food additives under 21 CFR 173, GRAS, or covered by an effective food contact notification, and meet 40 CFR 156 labeling (P). Boiler water additives meet 21 CFR 173.310 (P). Drying agents used with sanitization contain only GRAS, food contact notified, prior sanctioned, indirect additive or threshold of regulation components, cleared specifically for use with chemical sanitizers where chemicals sanitize (P).
