III.1 Values (paras 13 to 24) – UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI

UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI V3: paras 19 to 21 Ensure diversity and inclusiveness, respect lifestyle choices, and never exploit gaps in infrastructure or skills

What does V3 require?

Diversity and inclusion are to be secured at every stage of AI through the active involvement of everyone, whatever their protected characteristics. People's lifestyle choices, beliefs, opinions and expressions, including the choice whether to use AI and to take part in co-design, should not be restricted. Efforts, including international cooperation, should overcome and never take advantage of gaps in infrastructure, education, skills and legal frameworks, especially in low- and middle-income countries.
