UK Land Registration Act 2002
Part 6: Registration: general (conclusiveness, boundaries, inspection, official copies and searches, disclosure of unregistered interests, priority protection, objections, duty to act reasonably) – UK Land Registration Act 2002

UK Land Registration Act 2002 72-74: Priority protection by official search, objections and the effective date of registration

What does 72-74 require?

An application made within the priority period of an official search is protected: any entry made during the priority period is postponed to the entry made in pursuance of the protected application (section 72). Anyone may object to an application to the registrar, who must notify the applicant and, unless the objection is groundless, refer the dispute to the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) if it cannot be resolved by agreement (section 73). An entry has effect from the time the application is made (section 74), so applications are time-stamped on receipt.
