Employers and licensing bodies mandating cameras in vehicles should identify a lawful basis and carry out a DPIA covering drivers and passengers; they must provide privacy information through signage in the vehicle stating that recording happens and when, and must make clear who the controller is so people can exercise their rights. Audio should be off by default and used only exceptionally (a trigger switch), with any continuous activation strongly justified and risk-assessed. Continuous recording while a vehicle is used privately outside working hours is likely excessive, and drivers should be able to deactivate it then.
