UK ICO Employment Practices and Data Protection: Monitoring Workers (2023) 1.14: 1.14 Accuracy: correct monitoring data, weigh challenges, and let workers see and explain results

The employer must take reasonable steps to keep monitoring information correct and not misleading, update it where needed, correct or erase it promptly when found wrong, and carefully consider workers' challenges, especially where it drives adverse decisions such as performance reviews. It should allow for malfunction (wrong time zones), misinterpretation, falsification and wrong inferences by analytics, and should let workers see and, where needed, explain or challenge monitoring results within disciplinary, grievance, performance or appraisal processes.
