UK Companies Act 2006 1134-1138: Company records: form, place of inspection, precautions against falsification

What does 1134-1138 require?

Company records (registers, indexes, accounting records, minutes and the others section 1134 lists) may be kept in hard copy or electronic form, must be capable of being reproduced in hard copy, and may be arranged as the directors think fit provided the information is adequately recorded (section 1135); records required to be available for inspection must be kept at the registered office or a single alternative inspection location in the same part of the UK notified to the registrar (section 1136 and the Companies (Company Records) Regulations 2008); the inspection and copy fee rules apply (section 1137); and where records are kept otherwise than in bound books, adequate precautions must be taken to guard against and to facilitate discovery of falsification, with an offence for every officer in default (section 1138). Sections 1143 to 1148 (the company communications provisions, Schedules 4 and 5) govern sending and supplying documents in hard copy, electronic form and by website with the recipient's consent, and deemed delivery.
