The five cross-sectoral principles (for regulators to apply) – UK AI Regulation Framework

UK AI Regulation Framework P4: Principle 4: Accountability and governance (non-statutory, applied by regulators)

Governance arrangements should give real oversight of how AI is supplied and used, with clear accountability across the life cycle, and life cycle actors should build in and follow the principles; regulators are to place clear compliance and good practice expectations on the right actors in the supply chain, consider whether existing accountability powers reach AI developers and deployers, and encourage documentation of key decisions, impact assessments and audits. The white paper did not change legal responsibility across the life cycle but said it would keep allocation under review.
