The five cross-sectoral principles (for regulators to apply) – UK AI Regulation Framework

UK AI Regulation Framework P3: Principle 3: Fairness (non-statutory, applied by regulators)

AI should not erode people's or organisations' legal rights, produce unfair discrimination or distort markets unfairly; life cycle actors should adopt definitions of fairness suited to the system's use and the law. Regulators may publish descriptions of fairness for their domains, ensure systems are designed and used with them in mind, and prioritise joint guidance where remits overlap; the white paper expects these to reflect the Equality Act 2010, the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Public Sector Equality Duty, UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 on fair processing and solely automated decisions, consumer and competition law, and sector rules such as the FCA Handbook.
