All staff, contractors and visitors keep hands clean and wash them whenever they go into a processing or handling area, after the toilet, after using a handkerchief, after eating, drinking or smoking, and after touching hoses, cleaning chemicals, product that fell or anything contaminated (11.3.2.1). Handwashing stations are provided next to all personnel access points and wherever needed in handling and processing areas (11.3.2.2), made of stainless steel or another material that does not corrode, with potable water at a suitable temperature, liquid soap from a wall-fixed dispenser, paper towels from a cleanable no-touch dispenser, and a bin for used towels (11.3.2.3); high-risk areas also have hands-free taps and hand sanitiser (11.3.2.4). Signs in appropriate languages instructing handwashing before entering processing are placed prominently in break rooms, at their exits, in toilets and in outside eating areas (11.3.2.5). Handwashing continues when gloves are used (11.3.2.6).
