South Africa Physical Agents Regulations 2024 4: Duties of persons exposed: obey lawful instructions on using control measures, reporting defective, damaged or lost controls, cooperating in exposure determination, reporting risks, attending screening and surveillance and training; and inspect, use, store and dispose of PPE as instructed, never misuse it, and report damage or the need to clean or replace it

What does 4 require?

Anyone exposed, or liable to exposure, to a physical agent obeys lawful instructions given by the employer or the self-employed person, or by anyone they authorise, on using the measures adopted to control the agent, reporting defective, damaged or lost control measures immediately to the representative or employer, cooperating in determining their exposure, reporting potential physical agent risks, reporting for medical screening and surveillance, and information, instruction and training. Where personal protective equipment is required the employee inspects, uses, wears, stores and disposes of it as the employer's information, training and instructions direct, never intentionally misuses or damages it, and at once tells the employer or representative when it is damaged or defective or needs cleaning or replacing.
