Heat stress is eliminated at source where reasonably practicable. Where it is not and exposure reaches the Table 1 action level, the employer or self-employed person identifies why and reviews controls to keep below the OEL; where exposure reaches or exceeds the OEL the minimum measures are alternative working methods, plant and machinery designed to reduce heat stress where applicable, maintenance programmes, review of workplace, workstation and rest facility design and layout, review of the risk assessment, monitoring, screening, surveillance and controls, limits on the duration and magnitude of exposure, a heat acclimatisation programme for exposed employees, prompt heat-specific first aid, sufficient potable water at the place of work as the assessment determines, and appropriate protective clothing and equipment allowing for the clothing adjustment values in Table 9. Heat stress monitoring is conducted in accordance with SANS 7243.
The graph holds this control, the 0 it maps to, and the evidence behind each claim, over MCP and REST.
