Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003
Part 2: consumer actions, undertakings, court orders and cancellation rights – Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003

Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 8: Voluntary compliance agreements honoured

What does 8 require?

Where there are reasonable grounds to believe a supplier has carried out, is carrying out or will probably carry out an unfair practice, a specified body (such as CASE) may invite the supplier to sign a written voluntary compliance agreement undertaking not to engage in the practice, and with the supplier's agreement add undertakings to compensate affected consumers, reimburse the body's costs and publicise the agreement. A supplier that signs must perform every undertaking: unpaid compensation is recoverable by the consumer as a civil debt, costs by the body, and publicity can be carried out at the supplier's expense.
