Singapore Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 11: Cancellation rights under the cancellation regulations honoured

What does 11 require?

Regulations made under section 11 let consumers cancel contracts in prescribed classes within a prescribed cancellation period, and prescribe how cancellation notices are given, the notices and information a supplier must give the consumer, the parties' rights and obligations on cancellation (including deposits and compensation) and the effect on other rights. A supplier in a regulated class (direct sales away from business premises and time share contracts under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) (Cancellation of Contracts) Regulations) must give the prescribed cancellation notice at contracting, accept a valid cancellation within the period and refund as the regulations require. Actions under these regulations must be brought within one year of cancellation.
