The facility establishes a documented process for periodic audits that evaluate whether its application of the regulation is sufficient and effective in protecting workers' safety and health, defining the audit objectives, the scope (such as policy, worker participation and documentation), the methodology and the frequency, with further audits where earlier results, accidents or other conditions warrant them. Audits are conducted by competent persons, either external or internal but independent of the activity audited so the process is objective and impartial. Results and conclusions state at least the effectiveness of the regulation in achieving the facility's OSH policy and objectives, the extent to which decisions from previous audits were acted on, the level of compliance with Saudi legislation and the effectiveness of steps to enhance worker participation. Each audit and its conclusions are recorded in a written audit record; for each non-compliance a responsible person is appointed, a due date set and follow-up done to confirm the corrective action; results go to those responsible for corrective action, to the OSH committee or work team where one exists, and to senior management as an input to its reviews; and audits recur regularly, for example annually, or more often as the facility's needs require. Applies at the highest level only.
