Principles for Doing Business at Lloyd's P5.2: 5.2 Product design and oversight through governance meeting target market expectations

Products are designed and overseen through suitable governance that meets target market expectations. Baseline: all products and services overseen through a governance structure with appropriate review and reporting; for larger commercial risks on standard market wordings, design is driven by underwriting. Higher levels add a structured process ensuring good outcomes with customer challenge where consumers, micro-enterprises or SMEs are served, usually a product oversight group, assessing fair value, target market, wording, pricing including distribution charges, distribution chain suitability, sales, post-sale services and the end-to-end journey, and at the top level a formal board-mandated product oversight group.
