Prince Edward Island Occupational Health and Safety Act General Regulations P31-32: Repairs to machinery and pile driving: daily inspection of power-operated machinery, no use during repair, isolation and lock during repair, tyre and rim precautions, and pile driver hose, line and hammer safeguards

What does P31-32 require?

The employer ensures power-operated machinery is carefully inspected each day before operation as far as practicable, is not used while repair or maintenance is in progress and meets the other section 31.1 conditions; heavy duty tyre and rim assemblies are kept with fastenings correctly positioned; the power to electric machinery is disconnected and locked out while it is repaired or maintained; and tyres removed from trucks or heavy equipment are not inflated on lock-ring rims without a restraining device. On pile driving equipment, steam or air hoses to hammers are secured against reaction if they break, and the other guards, lines and operating precautions of section 32.1 are in place.
