Employees clearing a site must be protected against irritant and toxic plants and instructed in the first aid treatment that is available for them. All equipment used in site clearing needs rollover guards meeting Subpart O's requirements. Rider-operated equipment additionally needs an overhead and rear canopy guard: the overhead cover must be steel plate of 1/8 inch or thicker, or woven wire mesh of 1/4 inch or heavier whose openings do not exceed 1 inch, or an equivalent, and the rear opening must be closed with woven wire mesh of at least 1/4 inch having openings of 1 inch or less. Paragraph (b), specific requirements, is reserved.
