NFPA 70 National Electrical Code 2023 Article 700 Emergency Systems 700.10(D)(1)-(3): 700.10(D)(1) to (3) Fire protection of feeders in large or tall buildings

In assembly occupancies over 1000 persons, buildings with an occupied floor more than 75 ft above fire vehicle access, and educational occupancies over 300 occupants, emergency feeders must be in fully sprinklered areas or protected by a listed 2-hour circuit protective system, 2-hour fire-resistive cable, a 2-hour listed assembly holding only emergency circuits or concrete encasement, and feeder equipment such as transfer switches and panelboards must be in sprinklered spaces or 2-hour rated rooms (2026: same numbering).
