New Zealand Information Security Manual (NZISM) 17.1.55.C.02: 17.1.55.C.02 Encrypt RESTRICTED or SENSITIVE traffic on insecure networks

Where RESTRICTED or SENSITIVE information is sent, or systems at that level communicate, across networks that are insecure or unprotected (for example the Internet, public networks, or networks the agency does not control), it must be encrypted using an Approved Cryptographic Algorithm and Protocol.
