Malaysia National Guidelines on AI Governance and Ethics (2024) C5-C6: Sector players: adopt the AI code of ethics and align contributions with the SDGs and ESG principles

What does C5-C6 require?

The principles and the code of ethics are voluntary and exist to encourage ethical conduct in building and adopting AI; organisations, professions and industries should adopt a code of ethics that translates the principles into detailed conduct for their context, keep it under revision as technology and practice evolve, engage a broad range of stakeholders, and recognise that the code may be incorporated into regulation. Sector players should also align their industrial and economic contributions with the Sustainable Development Goals and ESG principles, collecting environmental, social and governance data (emissions and energy, workforce diversity and human rights, governance practices) to show that their AI contributes to sustainable development.
