Kotter 8-Step Change Model P4: Principle: select few and diverse many

What does P4 require?

Change moves beyond the usual small group of senior people to engage a diverse many drawn from every level and part of the organisation: more perspectives give more creative solutions and expose barriers sooner, and a big network of people pursuing the opportunity, often outside their normal roles, increases buy-in and capacity. Kotter's education paper suggests drafting the opportunity with a wider group of 15 to 20 leaders and then involving a broader set of stakeholders in problem solving; the network should be a diagonal slice across levels and functions, including voices from parts of the organisation that are usually unseen.
