Where consumer goods will or may cause injury, breach a prescribed safety standard or are the subject of a section 58 notice, and the supplier's own corrective action is unsatisfactory, the Authority by notice requires the supplier to recall the goods within a specified period, to disclose to the public or a specified class the defect or dangerous characteristic, the dangerous circumstances of use or the disposal procedure, and to inform them that it undertakes to repair or replace the goods or refund the price within the period specified (section 61(1) and (2)). The supplier is heard before a public notice is published, the Authority decides within twenty-one days, and an appeal lies to the Tribunal (section 61(3) to (5)).
