ITU Constitution: execution of the instruments and special provisions for radio – ITU Radio Regulations and Space Security Standards

ITU Radio Regulations and Space Security Standards CS44: CS Article 44: Use of the radio-frequency spectrum and of the geostationary-satellite and other satellite orbits

What does CS44 require?

Member States endeavour to hold the number of frequencies and the amount of spectrum they use to the minimum needed for satisfactory service, applying the latest technical advances as soon as they can (CS 195); and they treat radio frequencies and associated orbits, the geostationary orbit included, as limited natural resources to be used rationally, efficiently and economically under the Radio Regulations, so that all countries or groups of countries can have equitable access, with regard to the special needs of developing countries and the geographical situation of particular countries (CS 196).
