A subscriber receiving nuisance calls may ask the provider, in writing (confirming a telephone request within 48 hours), to override withheld caller identification for the relevant hours for up to fifteen days and to keep data on the origin of the calls, which may be given to the subscriber only to protect against those calls, at no more than cost. Providers set up transparent procedures ensuring, line by line, that caller-ID withholding is overridden and location data processed for emergency services authorised by law, despite the subscriber's or user's refusal or lack of consent.
