ISO/TS 22330:2018
Clause 5: Precursors (duty of care, organisational attributes, competencies) – ISO/TS 22330:2018

ISO/TS 22330:2018 5.2: Identify everyone to whom a duty of care is owed and what they need

What does 5.2 require?

In responding to any disruptive event a duty of care is owed by the organisation to many internal and external interested parties, and it should work out which communities any incident could touch. The specification groups them: the immediately impacted (people under physical threat, the injured, evacuees and those sheltering, neighbours, families, witnesses), who need a safe location, medical care, practical support, two-way communication, accurate information, leadership and psychological education; the subsequently impacted (unaffected areas of the site, other sites, close colleagues and those with a near miss, contractor and visitor organisations, customers and suppliers), who need accurate information, direction, leadership, two-way communication and psychological education; and incident responders (first responders, incident management teams, key and supporting workforce, top and line management), who need authority conferred by invocation, accurate information, assessment of the risks, evolving objectives, communication pathways, resources, psychological education, attention to their own well-being including fatigue and working hours, and feedback and recognition. Responsibility for contractors and visitors reverts to their own employer once the immediate response is over.
