ISO/IEC 27037:2012 7.1.3.1.3: 7.1.3.1.3 Additional activities: powered on digital device acquisition

Depending on the device: where encryption is suspected (checked by inspecting the raw disk or a crypto detection utility), capture the volatile data in RAM using trusted, validated tools because the live operating system may be untrustworthy; use a reliable time source and record the time of each action; and consider linking the DEFR to the acquired evidence by digital signature, biometrics or photography. Pressing the power button may be configured to alter or delete data, alert other systems or trigger a harmful device.
