Clause 8 Operation – ISO 56002

ISO 56002 8.3.1: General

What does 8.3.1 require?

The organization should set up its innovation processes to fit each innovation initiative. Processes can be adapted and made flexible, taking different shapes according to the kind of innovation and the circumstances: a fast track using only some processes, a sequence that is not linear, repeated cycles, running inside or apart from other processes, and links into other processes. Creative and experimental work concentrates on exploring in order to learn, and can call for flexibility and resilience. Innovation processes can connect with the organization's processes for research, marketing, product development, sales, partnering, collaboration, intellectual property, and mergers and acquisitions (Figure 2 shows the overall flow: identify opportunities, create concepts, validate concepts, develop solutions, deploy solutions).
