Clause 4 Context of the organization – ISO 56002

ISO 56002 4.2: 4.2 Understanding the needs and expectations of interested parties

The organization should identify, monitor and review the interested parties, whether internal or external and whether present or prospective, that matter to the innovation management system and to its areas of opportunity; what those parties need, expect and require; and how and when it will engage or interact with each. External parties can include users, customers, citizens, communities, special interest groups, partners, providers, consultants, unions, competitors, owners, shareholders, funders, regulators, authorities, standards bodies and industry associations; internal parties are employees at every level and others who work for the organization. Needs and expectations can relate to needs that exist now or will arise later, and that are stated or unstated; to value that is financial or non-financial; to novelty ranging from incremental to radical; to markets that exist already or are new; to any product, service, process, model or method; to offerings inside, next to or far from the current scope; to improving or replacing offerings; to the organization itself or its value chain and ecosystem; and to statutory, regulatory and compliance commitments.
