The organization shall demonstrate that it has addressed organizational culture as a means of supporting the knowledge management system; a knowledge management culture spread across the organization is described as essential to sustaining knowledge management over time, a culture that encourages collaboration, sharing and knowledge activities and values and actively applies knowledge helping to establish and run the system. Annex C describes that culture as a supporting element of the organizational culture in which seeking, sharing, developing and applying knowledge are encouraged, with a personal dimension where each individual shows commitment through their own behaviour, and approaches such as describing the knowledge culture that is wanted, analysing the gaps between that and the present, planning how to close them, acting on the plan and reviewing progress.
