ISO 22003-1:2022 Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of food safety management systems
Annex B: Minimum audit duration – ISO 22003-1:2022 Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of food safety management systems

ISO 22003-1:2022 Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of food safety management systems B.3.1: Minimum duration general rules, FTE counting and exclusions

What does B.3.1 require?

FSMS audits meet the minimum duration from B.3.2; schemes may set higher categories and calculations and the body follows them. The minimum covers both stages of the initial certification audit. Employees involved in food safety are counted as full-time equivalents, using the main shift plus food-safety-relevant non-production staff where shifts are similar; a coherent reduction for highly repetitive shifts must be recorded with its justification. Duration excludes planning, preparation, travel, follow-up of nonconformities and non-auditor team members. Scheme owner rules on duration apply where not less than this annex.
