ISO 19650 - Organisation and Digitisation of Information about Buildings and Civil Engineering Works (BIM) 3:5.1.3: 5.1.3 Identify the assets for which information shall be managed

The appointing party determines which assets, including ones it plans to build or acquire, repay the effort of managing their information. It considers who owns the assets and their information, any asset breakdown structure already used, how each asset affects both the efficiency and effectiveness of business operations, how critical it is to key operations, and what condition it is in. Net benefit compares costs with benefits using organizational criteria such as financial analysis, health and safety, environmental and reputational risk, and the effort needed to capture information now or later; these considerations may be recorded in the OIR.
