The appointing party sets up an asset information protocol defining the rights and obligations of itself and the appointed parties regarding the AIM, and builds it into each appointment. It considers duties for managing or producing information, including CDE use; warranties or liabilities tied to the AIM; intellectual property in the AIM, both background and foreground; how reference information and shared resources may be used; use of information during the appointment and any licence terms; and reuse once the appointment ends or is terminated.
