Chapter 4: the seven principles for responsible AI – Ireland Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service (2025)

Ireland Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service (2025) 4.7b: Enable auditability, including independent audit of systems affecting fundamental rights or safety

What does 4.7b require?

AI systems are open to evaluation by auditors inside and outside the body, and making their reports available adds to trust; this does not require business models or intellectual property to be made public. Where an application bears on fundamental rights, safety-critical uses included, the system can be audited independently.
