Ireland Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service (2025) 4.2b: Prepare and prove a fallback plan, and complete a full risk assessment, before deployment

What does 4.2b require?

A clear procedure sets out what to do when an AI system breaks down or misbehaves, for example switching to a simpler system or handing control to people; whoever is accountable for the deployment stage confirms the fallback can be activated before the system goes live. A full risk assessment covers every application area the system will touch.
