Ireland Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service (2025) 4.1b: Equip users to understand and contest AI systems, with opt-out from solely automated decisions where warranted

What does 4.1b require?

The public body equips users with what they need to grasp an AI system and, where practical, to assess or dispute it. Where the rights assessment finds that the system's decisions could significantly affect an end-user, it provides, as appropriate, a route by which a person can decline a decision taken by AI alone.
