Chapter 4: the seven principles for responsible AI – Ireland Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service (2025)

Ireland Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service (2025) 4.3c: Respect privacy and data protection across the lifecycle, run DPIAs and obtain vendor compliance confirmations

What does 4.3c require?

Privacy and data protection are honoured by AI systems from design to retirement and the data used in a model complies with GDPR principles. The body completes Data Protection Impact Assessments to identify and mitigate risks, collects data only for specific purposes, uses it fairly and never lets it discriminate unfairly against an individual. Where a system is procured, the vendor confirms that its data is GDPR compliant and does not infringe others' intellectual property rights.
