Where children cannot validly consent for themselves, the project shall take a risk-based approach to obtaining consent from a parent or responsible adult, which features such as payments may call for. Children shall not be asked to accept terms that they cannot validly and meaningfully agree to, or grasp conceptually. Where the law demands consent from a parent or responsible adult, that consent should be valid and meaningful, with steps taken to confirm the adult's identity, and it should serve neither to weaken children's protections nor to silence what children think or say.
