GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Standard v6
Traceability, segregation, mass balance, recall, complaints and non-conforming product (FV-GFS 06 to 11) – GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Standard v6

GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Standard v6 FV-GFS 11.01: Procedures are in place to manage and handle non-conforming products.

What does FV-GFS 11.01 require?

Written procedures, including a hold-and-release step, stop non-conforming product (whether for food safety, quality, MRL exceedance, cross contamination or another reason) from being used or shipped by mistake: during production and handling such product is identified, kept apart, handled properly, and either redirected to a suitable use such as processing or feed or disposed of. The procedures deal with dropped product as the risk assessment directs; product that presents a food safety risk is left unharvested or thrown away; discarded product and waste are kept in designated, signed areas that are cleaned on schedule; and where the root cause is a significant food safety issue, a corrective action procedure removes the cause so it does not happen again.
