A distributor may make a product available only once it bears the CE marking, the German instructions and documents accompany it, and the manufacturer and importer have met their identification and contact duties. If it knows or has reason to believe the product does not meet the ordinance it may only make it available once conformity is restored, and must inform the manufacturer or importer and the authorities without delay; it keeps storage and transport from compromising conformity, and the corrective action and information duties of the manufacturer apply to it accordingly.
